What Are Your Favorite Rock Songs?

On my trip to Ottawa and back I was reading a new book that I received for Christmas by one of my favorite authors, John Sanford. The book is Broken Prey, the 16th book in the Prey series and features Lucas Davenport as the main character. He started off as a detective for the Minneapolis Police Department and is now the head investigator for the Minnesota State Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

I won’t tell you what the book is about however in the story there is a sub-story about how Lucas received an iPod and a gift certificate for 100 songs he can download from iTunes for a present. Now, Lucas could afford to buy more than the 100 songs he was given but he was taking it as a challenge to come up with a list of the 100 best songs of all time. He asked his friends and co-workers for ideas to add to his own list. By the end of the book he had his top 100 list.

I thought that was a great idea. So from now until the end of March, I am going to put together a list of the top Rock songs and I am asking all of you for your help. What I would like, is for you to leave me a comment with your favorite 10 Rock songs. Narrowing your list down to the top 10 will make sure that only the best songs are submitted. I know that when I sat down and started to think about it I had about 25 songs. I found it tough to narrow it down but I managed to do it. I started off with songs by Bon Jovi, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Doobie Bros., ZZ Top, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Queen, ELO, Jefferson Starship, The Police, Linkin Park, The Doors, Foreigner, Metallica, Def Leppard, Bruce Springsteen and Aerosmith to name but a few. I will give you the songs on my list over the course of the next 5 weeks. Remember, think about it and leave me a comment with your favorite 10 Rock songs of all time.

I’d like to qualify my list. I was looking at it more of the "Top 10" (as in what makes a great rock song), not necessarily my absolute favourite.
